Dropbox uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/ Transport Layer Security (TLS) for data transfer, creating a secure tunnel protected by 128-bit or higher Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption. Encryption at rest. Files are stored using 256-bit AES encryption. Data is split into individual discrete file blocks, each encrypted for storage using an AES-256 cipher.
